AI learning in Singapore
The world's most intense tuition market, with an exam system precise enough that tools must map exactly to the MOE syllabus.
Note: Singapore’s exam system is mid-reform — dates below reflect the state as of 2026.
Exam systems
- PSLE — Primary School Leaving Examination at Primary 6, now scored on Achievement Levels (AL 1–8).
- GCE N/O/A-Level — Managed by SEAB. From 2027 the O- and N-Levels merge into the single Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) under full Subject-Based Banding.
Languages of the classroom
English-medium across subjects, plus a compulsory Mother Tongue (Mandarin, Malay or Tamil) — the official bilingual policy.
Price points
Households spent ~S$1.8 billion on private tuition in 2023, with a 4–5× rich/poor spend gap. Group tuition ~S$15–40/hr; 1-to-1 up to ~S$200/hr.
How students reach it (delivery channel)
Web and app on standard connections; parents pay premiums for MOE-syllabus-exact AI tutoring.
How it’s used
Near-universal private tuition; premium pricing reflects it.
